PACE+ST3: Advisory Council

An effective advisory council is one of the critical keys to the success of a technical training program.  The advisory council reviews the program’s objectives, progress, curriculum, tools, equipment donations and other relevant issues.  The councils’ membership consist of individuals who are working in the industry who bring current business perspective, latest repair technologies, and expectations for entry-level technicians.

Benefits for the Advisory Council include:

  • First consideration for workplace tours, internships, and post graduate employment
  • Infuse the latest technologies to the school curriculum
  • Through influence and active participation, establish a training/mentor program that promotes higher entry-level standards
  • Satisfy business needs through “pipeline” of qualified entry-level technicians
  • Establish a close (meaningful) relation with education, industry, and community

Responsibilities of the Advisory Council include:

  • Determine strategy for placing interns
  • Review curriculum according to PACE+ST3 task list
  • Student recruitment
  • Budget and purchasing recommendations
  • Securing and maintaining school administration support
  • Review progress of tasks taught to intern
