GEICO PHILANTHROPIC DONATES $21,000 TO I-CAR EDUCATION FOUNDATION FOR EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT

Hoffman Estates, IL – September 16, 2009– Along with donating $15,000 to the I-CAR Education Foundation’s Collision Repair Education Campaign, the GEICO Philanthropic Foundation is proud to announce additional scholarship opportunities for students studying collision repair.

The GEICO Scholarship Program will offer a $1,500 tuition-and-tool-purchase scholarship to each of four recipients – $1,000 for tuition reimbursement and $500 for tool purchases – for an additional total of $6,000. The schools selected for this scholarship are in New York, Washington, DC, Florida, and California.

The I-CAR Education Foundation’s Collision Repair Education Campaign allows the Education Foundation to provide annual grants and scholarships to support schools, instructors, and students in collision education.

“This is an exciting program because it is not only a new scholarship, but also our first student tool grant,” says Scott Kruger, I-CAR Education Foundation Executive Director. “Collision technicians can have thousands of dollars invested in the tool boxes and, thanks to GEICO, graduating collision techs will be able to get a good start on their tool collection as well as help pay for their education.”

“We are happy to help support efforts to develop a new generation of auto repair professionals,” said Don Lyons, GEICO senior vice president. “Tomorrow’s cars need top specialists with the best training and skills. We’re glad to be part of this program.”
