THE I-CAR EDUCATION FOUNDATION RELEASES FOLLOW-UP OF ITS 1995/1998 "SNAPSHOT" OF THE COLLISION INDUSTRY SURVEY

ROLLING MEADOWS, IL – August 21, 2001 – In 1995 and 1998, The I-CAR Education Foundation conducted important surveys, which provided collision industry professionals with a valuable "snapshot" of the industry. The surveys revealed crucial information about collision repair technicians, such as their average incomes, benefits, and opportunities in the collision repair field. Another focus of the survey was to compare small, large, and super collision repair shops and examine their differences. Results of the surveys were intended to help industry leaders determine what they needed to do to ensure the industry's long-term health.

A random sample of 4,000 collision repair businesses from all 50 states was contacted to complete the 2001 survey. Four hundred and seven, or 10.2% of those businesses responded with completed survey forms. The 2001 survey features updated information, along with comparisons to the 1995 and 1998 surveys. This new information will be useful for establishing validity and analyzing developing trends. The data can also be used to help recruit new technicians, support school-to-work programs, and bring to focus existing vocational technical programs.

A four-page executive summary of the 2001 Snapshot can be downloaded free from the I-CAR Education Foundation web site at www.i-car.com/foundation, or the entire survey can be purchased for $25.00. Please contact the Foundation at 888-722-3787, X283 to purchase a copy.

The I-CAR Education Foundation would like to thank the Allstate Foundation for sponsoring the survey and supporting this project.

The I-CAR Education Foundation, founded in 1991, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and number of entry-level employees for the collision industry.
