FORMER MISS AMERICA, SHAWNTEL SMITH, APPEARING AT NACE 1999

(Rolling Meadows, IL) Shawntel Smith, Miss America (1996), will make a special appearance on Saturday, December 4 at the 1999 International Auto Body Congress and Exposition (NACE) in Atlanta, Georgia. Shawntel will be the spokesperson for the Collision Repair Instructors Network (CRIN), and its sponsor, the I-CAR Education Foundation. She will be exhibiting and signing autographs at the CRIN booth (#1706) from 1:00-4:00pm.

The theme for this year's CRIN booth is "Training Tomorrow's Technicians Today" by building partnerships with Collision Repair facilities across the country.

CRIN is an international organization designed to facilitate the exchange of technical and professional information among collision repair instructors, school administrators, and industry partners. The network has been in operation since 1992 and enables members to stay up-to-date on the newest technology, teaching techniques, and recruitment and retention ideas through its strong relationship with the I-CAR Education Foundation.

Since winning her title in 1996, Shawntel has committed her life to speaking with young people and adults all over the world about making dreams a reality through commitment, leadership, and teamwork. The former Miss America also serves as Ambassador to America's Youth for the U. S. Departments of Education and Labor's School-to-Work initiative. She advocates solutions that prepare today's students for tomorrow's workplace. School-to-Work, offers programs to introduce students to the workplace and fuels businesses to develop education curriculums that feed into the job market.

Shawntel has tirelessly taken this message to schools, industries, government agencies and legislatures from coast to coast. She also believes and supports the Foundation's mission of attracting quality entry-level students and preparing them for careers in the Collision Industry.

The I-CAR Education Foundation and CRIN would like to thank Ford Motor Company and Gene Hamilton, owner of Sports & Imports Collision for their support and generosity to make this event possible.

I-CAR, founded in 1979, is an international, not-for-profit, training organization dedicated to improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of auto collision repair for the ultimate benefit of consumers.
