Education Foundation News: 1998 Education Foundation Press Releases: 1998 ArchivesDecember 8, 1998 THE I-CAR EDUCATION FOUNDATION AND BODY SHOP EXPO ANNOUNCE SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS (Rolling Meadows, IL) The I-CAR Education Foundation and Body Shop Expo magazine announced the seven winners of their 1998 scholarship program at NACE on Saturday, December 5, 1998. Eric Miller of Pauls Boro High School, NJ was presented the grand prize scholarship of $1,000 and also received an all expense paid trip to this year's NACE. "Eric is a deserving recipient. He has a passion for collision repair and is interested in making it his career. Part of our mission is to attract and train young men and women interested in entering the field of collision repair. Body Shop Expo is also committed to our industry and has partnered with us to provide opportunities to deserving students," said Ron W. Ray, Executive Director of the I-CAR Education Foundation. Six additional winners, of $750.00 scholarships, were: Shrea Estrada of Contra Costa College, CA, Dave Jakubek of Fox Valley Tech College, WI, Andrew Goza of Irmo High School, SC, Tam Barzak of J.D. Patton Area Tech, KY, Jason Vernon of Francis Tuttle Tech, OK and Jim Reaumme of Cypress College, CA. The seven scholarships were awarded to students representing the seven U.S. regions of I-CAR. The Foundation's Collision Repair Instructor's Network (CRIN) members nominated the students based on past performance, interest in the field, and need. A panel of seven judges from the Foundation's Executive Committee selected the winners. The winners have a choice of applying the scholarships toward tuition at a post-secondary school in their area or toward course coupons for I-CAR classes. Body Shop Expo contributes a portion of their advertising revenue to fund the program and have already committed to scholarships in 1999. Advertisers in Body Shop Expo have the option to include a special "Partnership Scholarship" logo in their ads to help support the program. The I-CAR Education Foundation, founded in 1991, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and number of entry-level employees for the Collision Industry. |
