I-CAR EDUCATION FOUNDATION RECEIVES $5,000 GIFT FROM UIIC

(Rolling Meadows, IL) At the 1997 International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) in Las Vegas, the Unified Inter-Industry Coalition (UIIC) presented Mark Claypool, Executive Director of the I-CAR Education Foundation, with a donation of $5,000 towards the organization's programs and services.

UIIC was founded in Maryland in 1996 as a non-profit organization to raise funds and donate the proceeds directly to educational programs for the collision repair industry. In addition to the I-CAR Education Foundation, UIIC contributed $1,000 to the Collision Technician Apprenticeship Program (CTAP), $1,000 to Maryland vocational-education programs, and $500 to the Maryland state VICA winners.

"We are delighted that our fund raising efforts were so successful," says UIIC President Rob Mowson of Sherwin-Williams. "UIIC recognizes the need for prosperous education programs for the collision repair industry and hopes that our financial assistance will help these organizations in their continued success."

"We are most appreciative of the support of organizations such as UIIC," added Mark Claypool. "This support, pooled with support that comes in from across the country, enables the I-CAR Education Foundation to address the critical shortages of qualified, entry-level technicians we have coming into this industry. Our uniform curriculum, ADVANCE-TECH, and our image enhancing efforts, like Team USA, are all made possible by this outpouring of support from individuals and organizations who recognize the work we are doing."

In addition to Mowson, the UIIC officers are Rick Paukstitus of True2Form, Tom Wighington of Mattos Pro Finishes, and Barry Gilden of Allstate Insurance, all based in Maryland. The group holds various fund raising events throughout the year, its most successful being an annual charity golf open.

The I-CAR Education Foundation, founded in 1991, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and number of entry-level employees for the Collision Industry.
