Education Foundation News: 1998 Education Foundation Press Releases: 1998 ArchivesFebruary 27, 1998 I-CAR EDUCATION FOUNDATION TO OFFER SPECIAL ADVANCE-TECH, CURRICULUM PACKAGE DEALS (Rolling Meadows, IL) The I-CAR Education Foundation has announced its plans to offer special deals on segments of its ADVANCE-TECH, curriculum, the comprehensive curriculum for entry-level training in the collision industry. Recognizing that not all schools want, or need, the entire curriculum, the Foundation organized a focus group that met, at the 1997 International Autobody Congress and Exposition (NACE) in Las Vegas, to review each of the 43 units of ADVANCE-TECH. The focus group consisted of four instructors from the college level, three from the high school level, and two shop owners. The review helped produce suggested units of the curriculum that could be pooled together and marketed as packages. These packages include: Introduction to Collision Repair, 405 total hours of classroom and lab time, featuring nine units of ADVANCE-TECH; The Basics of Collision Repair, Intermediate, an additional 244 hours of classroom and lab time, featuring eight more units of ADVANCE-TECH; a Refinishing Concentration package, with 286 hours of classroom and lab time and seven units of ADVANCE-TECH; and a Structural Concentration package, with 231 hours of classroom and lab time and three units of ADVANCE-TECH. Schools that purchase these packages will be offered a 10% discount off the full price of the individual units. Schools that purchase the entire curriculum will continue to receive a 20% discount off the full price. "Not all schools can afford the entire ADVANCE-TECH curriculum or do not have the time available to teach all that is in it," noted Mark Claypool, Executive Director of the I-CAR Education Foundation. "These packages will help instructors chose the units that their peers believe are most important, given the time they have to offer instruction and the specific areas they wish to concentrate on." The I-CAR Education Foundation, founded in 1991, is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality and number of entry-level employees for the Collision Industry. |
